Few
days ago when I wanted to find interesting monitor for my review in middle
price range, lets say about $150-$200, I have seen tons of them on Amazon
store. So, how can you decide which one is good for you? Well, there are tons
of stuff that you can check before you make your decision, but, why would you
ever think about more expensive computer monitor? Before you go away and check
monitor that is almost two times cheaper, spend few moments and read my article
dedicated to Dell UltraSharp U2412M.
Honestly,
there are numerous reasons why you need to consider Dell UltraSharp U2412M for
your next purchase so lets compare it with competition. First of all, most of
the devices have 1920x1080 resolution while Dell decided to make this one a bit
different, in 1920x1200 pixel resolution. Believe me when I say, those 120
pixels seams ridiculous but they do make a difference. Just remember how many
times you had to scroll page just a little bit to see whole image, to read PDF
document or fix a document. That tiny bit of space is more important than you
can imagine right now.
Most
of the monitors that are cheap on the market came with low quality TN LCD
panels instead of much higher quality IPS panels. As you can figure out, this
computer monitor from Dell has IPS panel that is able to reproduce amazing
quality colors without over saturating them, with good viewing angles and sharp
text. TN displays tend to shift colors depending on how and where you look at
the display, vertical shifting is easiest to spot (you have looked at laptop
displays so I do believe that you understand what I'm trying to say).
IPS
displays do not have this problem. Viewing angles are about 178 degrees, so you
will see colors even when you look far from the side. Well, U2412M is not
capable of reproducing wide gamut, so if you spend a lot of time in Adobe RBG
color space you should consider a bit better monitor, if you don’t know why
wide gamut is important then you do not use it and you do not need it, this
monitor is surely for you.
Additionally,
you are able to be adjusted vertically so you will get right viewing angle
whenever you want. With old monitors, you were in situation to put phone book or
some old catalogs under the screen while with this one you will never do that
again. It is cool addition, I know. Well, those are just few things that you
should know about this monitor that makes it different from the most on the
market. When taking about specifications and capabilities, let me list you some
data.
Dell
UltraSharp U2412M is LED back light powered wide display screen with 24 inch
resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio utilizing IPS panel technology. It is able to
produce amazing color quality, brilliant view, sharp text and cool flexibility
suited for most office and home users. It is specially tailored to provide more
working space and suite your viewing preferences.
Of
course, it comes with all other fancy marketing gibberish like environmentally
friendly, responsible materials, brightness adjustment, energy stars and bunch
of other fancy words that in reality say that it is made just like any other
monitor on the market. What is more important, it has USB port so you can pop
in your flash memory when needed.
Now,
even I have not fully calibrated it right out of a box when I wanted to check
it, I was pretty satisfied with how all colors and text looked right out of the
box. You will not need to put yourself through this extra step if you don’t
really care about colors as it will look amazing from the first time you turn
it on. With just a few clicks inside navigation, you will be able to change
colors to suit your needs and that is about all you will have to do.
In
overall, I was more than happy with U2412M right out of the box. Price is good,
maybe a bit higher than competition but anyway, you will get much more. It is
really great value monitor and if you plan to use it for you're personally or
even professionally, you will be more than satisfied. According to user
feedback around the web, you will notice that it is great computer monitor to
have so consider it, those 120 pixels can make your life much easier for sure.
